Aromatherapy, the therapeutic use of aromatic substances,is a
holistic treatment that combines massage with essential plant
oils. In Thailand, there are many plants that contain the
essential oils
in their flowers, leaves, seed or roots,each having its own
healing properties. Specific
essential plant oils are known to have
physiological and psychological effects. They soothe and relax,
stimulate and help dispel depression.
Of all the five senses, smell has the strongest link with the
subconscious and so can help to release psychological blocks.
Additionally, the essential oils' molecules
are absorbed through the skin, and then dissolve in the natural
body fats and fluids. This allows them to flow around the body, to
relax or stimulate, detoxify and regenerate. |

Tipping
Tipping is not standard practice in Thailand, although it is
becoming increasingly common. Many larger hotels and restaurants
add a 10% service charge
to the bill. Taxi drivers do not expect a tip but the gesture is
appreciated and 10-20 baht is acceptable for porters. |

year is the last year for the present THA Executive Board of
Directors, and especially for me as this the last of the second
term as the President the Board of Directors, and other
Committees, have been working hard trying to coordinate many
programs, and trying to improve and help solve many problems in
the hotel industry. Effort and time have been devoted for the
benefit of the hotel and tourism industry. We have many
difficulties. Some success and many problems still need to be
solved.
All the activities in the past would not be accomplished without
cooperation and support from the Government other associations,
and private sectors. They have been playing a vital role in trying
to promote Thailand, and trying to solve problems. We hope that
Thailand, can continue to do well in the tourism industry, and we
should continue to try to improve our quality in every areas,
especially in the areas of environment, safety and security,
cleanliness, and quality of our human resources. To have large
number of tourist arrival alone is not enough, it is also our
responsibility to make Thailand a better tourist destination, and
to become one of the world best tourism destination. |
